Opposes hijab in the police force
The debate on whether to allow Muslim women in the police force to wear the islamic veil, hijab, has spread to the Norwegian Courts of Justice. As a result of the current discussion, the Courts of Justice are considering allowing Muslim lawyers, judges and members of a jury to wear the hijab.
The Progress Party strongly opposes the proposal. Per-Willy Amundsen, Spokesperson on Immigration, underlines the importance of neutrality in the police force and in the court system. “I fear this will cause people to question the neutrality of our legal system”, says Amundsen.
